Paulding County Sign Ordinance Changes

Paulding County has made some changes to its Sign Ordinance.  This is the first major change to the ordinance in twelve years.  The County completed a comprehensive study of signage in surrounding counties, cities and states, as well in our own back yard of Paulding County to develop the new rules. 

One of the major changes is the consolidation of sign regulations to one location, as opposed to the rules being scattered throughout the Zoning Ordinance.  Now, if you have any questions or need to find the correct regulation for your sign, you only need to go to the Sign Ordinance.

Here are some of the highlights of the changes.

• Weekend directional signs are no longer allowed. (Kiosk Program will be provided)
• Bootleg signs will continue to not be allowed.
• Kiosk Signs will be provided for rent from the County.
• Only public transportation and kiosk signs will be allowed in the right-of-way.
• Commercial and residential development signs may only be monument-type.  Pole signs are not allowed.
• Electronic signs over 120 sq. ft. are prohibited. (including LED, LCD, Plasma)
• With county approval, temporary advertising devices such as banners, inflatable, streamers, sky dancers are allowed. (3 times per year, maximum of 30 days each time)
• All signs that were legal and conforming with the prior ordinance will be considered “grandfathered”.
• All signs that were illegal under the prior ordinance are still illegal under the new ordinance and will be required to be removed within 90 days from the adoption of the new sign ordinance (May 25, 2010).
