So you need 1 sign for your event. Just a little yard sign….like one of those ones that you see everywhere. You call your local sign company to learn that this one little sign is going to cost a lot more than you thought it would.
“How can 1 tiny sign be worth so much?” you ask.
Let us explain….
Making a single one or two color sign requires many steps:
- Determine what you want to advertise on the event. Do you want people to call you? Check your website? Be directed to a certain venue? Our graphic designer will design your sign according to your specifics.
- What color is going to give you the best visibility? This will be the color of vinyl that will be used on your sign.
- Our designer uses a special computerized program to make a proof of what your sign will look like. She sends it to you for your approval.
- Upon approval, the designer sends the sign information to the vinyl cutter to cut the words and graphics that will be applied to the sign substrate.
- The graphics are cut and then the excess material must be “weeded” out of the material that will be used. This is a lengthy and somewhat tedious process.
- Transfer tape is then applied to the weeded vinyl and then used to carefully lift the vinyl from its wax backing.
- This tape with the vinyl words and graphics is then applied to the sign substrate; coroplast, pvc, foamboard, etc.
- The transfer tape is then carefully lifted off the vinyl and the substrate, leaving the cut vinyl behind.
- If you have 2 colors in your sign, then steps 2 – 8 are repeated.
- Voila! Your sign is complete! (Unless it is a 2 sided sign…then double everything again!)
So, you can see that this simple looking little sign has a lot of work that goes in to make it looking as good as it does! Your sign company isn’t trying to overcharge you – the time and effort to make the sign is what you are paying for. When you buy more than one sign at a time, you can see that some of these steps do not need to be repeated resulting in volume discounts. And, of course, with Signs & More, the quality is second to none. Call us at 770-383-8808.
